With more than eight centuries of history, the Louvre Palace continues surprising us. A Medieval Fortress, a Renaissance Palace and since the 18th century a museum, this political and artistic place has attracted kings and presidents who have embellished it to make even more oustanding. Events have also marked its history. During this visit you will know everything about its medieval period, its days after the French Revolution becoming the artistical epicenter in Paris.

The Orsay Museum

Before becoming one of the most prestigious museums in Paris in 1986, Orsay was a station built in the center of Paris for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. Avant-garde building for the time, with the modernization of trains, the station was gradually abandoned. Threatened with destruction, it was saved by the President of the Republic Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.

Known worldwide for its rich Impressionist collection, the museum also brings together in all its diversity the Western artistic period from 1848 to 1914, thus ensuring continuity with the Louvre Museum.

During your visit, you will discover the innovative artistic currents of the 19th century, which opposed the strict rules of the Academy: realism, the Barbizon school, impressionism and post-impressionism. You will discover Millet, Manet, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cézanne and so many others).

Pompidou Museum

Inaugurated in 1977, Pompidou museum hosts the most important modern art collection in Europe. In 1969 George Pompidou, great collector and a lover of contemporary art decided to give a new image to a very poor area by creating a village inside a village. It has the richest collection worldwide of Kandinsky, Brancusi, Delaunay, Duchamp, Giacometti, Picasso, Niki de Saint Phalle among others. In this tour you will discover the fifth floor dedicated to modern art dating from the beginning of the 20th century to 1960, from fauvism to the New Realism.

The goal of these artists and movements was to change our view of the world, redefine, transgress and surpass reality, quest of a personal style, criticize our society. There was a complete break out from classical tradition making art subversive, experimental and true.

Versailles Castle

Versailles was first of all a lodge as King Louis XIII used it for hunting. It then became the French capital city and the most famous place in Europe when Louis XIV moved his court in 1682. Its end will occur with the French Revolution when parisians decided to bring back to Paris Louis XVI and his unpopular wife Marie Antoinette.

In 1837 the Castle of the Sun king was then transformed into a Museum dedicated to “all the glories of France”.

During the visit we will admire the beauty of the public and private apartments of the three kings and Queens, the chapel and the most astonishing and impressive room in the castle: “The Hall of Mirrors” while learning about its daily routine, historical moments, opulent lifestyle, spectacular balls, and extravagant episodes.

Then we will explore its gardens ‘à la française’ thanks to André Le Notre who was not only recognized for his work but who also became one of the most intimate friend of Louis XIV, admired and rewarded. After lunch or a café break, head for the more secret side of Versailles, with a visit to the beautiful Petit Trianon and the Domain of Marie Antoinette.
